Originally from Chicago, I am a writer living in Pittsburgh. If asked by a goat, “Wouldst thou like to live deliciously?” I’d probably say yes. 

Currently, I am Assistant Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. I write and teach about popular culture and the contemporary novel, especially as it intersects with histories of technology and media. My literary scholarship can be found at Post45, Twentieth-Century Literature, Studies in the Novel, and Public Books. 

I am also Director of the Center for Digital Studies where I sponsor efforts to use digital media to advance cultural  projects, including the Route 30 podcast, the NEH-funded Parlamentos project, and the annual Digital Studies Symposium.

Once upon a time, I earned my MA from UC-Boulder and my PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill, and I served as the Marion L. Britain Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Tech and a Junior Fellow at the Library of Congress.
